The Pre-Professional Healthcare Pathway works with Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Biomedical sciences to explore interests in healthcare provision. Students will learn through scaffolded activities and will investigate topics such as human medicine, physiology, genetics, microbiology, and public health.

This pathway is for students interested in pursuing health-care related advanced education, including four-year degrees and post-graduate education. “Pre-Health” students are undergraduates who are aiming at professions in health care– including medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, or optometry, to name a few.

The nursing and clinical pathway designed for students interested in offering healthcare services to people in capacities other than a physician such as nursing, techs, or other vital healthcare roles, preparing students to: 

• Assess, observe, and speak to patients
• Record details and symptoms of patient medical history and current health
• Prepare patients for exams and treatment
• Administer medications and treatments, then monitoring patients for side effects and reactions
• Create, implement, and evaluate patient care plans with the medical team
• Perform wound care, such as cleaning and bandaging them
• Operate and monitor medical equipment
• Draw blood, urine samples, and other body fluids for lab work
• Educate patients and family members on treatment and care plans, as well as answering their questions

Do you participate in and enjoy physical activity, exercise and sports? Have you enjoyed coursework in biology, chemistry, math, nutrition, physiology and physical fitness? Athletic training, therapeutic services, and injury prevention are all part of the exercise science pathway. This pathway is for students interested in injuries, care, and athletic training. This pathway offers an exercise science internship.
