A program sponsored by The American Legion Department of Missouri, Inc., in cooperation with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. A week long summer opportunity for students interested in law enforcement. Students must be 16-18 years of age and have a "C" average or higher. A 3-week residential program for highly motivated student visual arts, theatre, dance, creative writing, and music. The Academy offers an intensive schedule of classes in interdisciplinary and discipline-specific arts, and a wide range of co-curricular activities
The Missouri Girls State program was first established in 1940. The purpose is to promote pride in America. Girls create a fictitious state where the citizens will govern at the city, county and state level. They will have speakers who serve as leaders in our Missouri government as well as hold important offices in our communities. This is open to girls in their junior year of high school; interested students should contact their school counselor for details. The Missouri Innovation Academy is a three-week residential academy held on the campus of Missouri State University. The academy is designed to reward bright and motivated, incoming high school junior and senior students from across the state of Missouri. It provides students the opportunity and tools to become knowledgeable, successful and excited about innovative technology, research, business and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (stem).
An 8 day academy held on the MSU Campus that brings together talented and aspiring students to develop their understanding of public affairs: civic engagement through government and the private sector. The Academy combines presentations by guest speakers with discussions, hands-on activities and service projects. Open to current to sophomores and juniors w/ GPA of 3.0.
Students, accompanied by their sponsoring teacher, will spend two days engaged in activities devoted to science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM).
The Missouri Scholars Academy is a three-week academic program for 330 of Missouri's gifted students who are ready to begin their junior year in high school. The academy is a residential program held on, and partially funded by, the campus of the University of Missouri.
Boys State is an eight-day hands on experience in the operation and fundamentals of government. Citizens of MBS construct their own state, utilizing the core values that hold true in our everyday lives. They are taught the need for competition, the value of public office, the strength of the individual voice and vote. Open to young men in their junior year of high school; interested students should contact their school counselor for details/application. What do they need to do: Write an essay between 1200and 1500 words in length and should address one or more aspects of books and reading (other detail oriented requirements are on attached sheet)
How many can we submit as a school: ONLY 1 and we pick the one submittal……….Last year, they only had 57 entries out of the over 600 MO eligible schools
Prize: $1500 for 1st, $750 for 2nd,and $250 for 3rd
